"What initially drew me into the world of art was actually the external validation I received from my peers as a child. I then discovered that art was the one thing I was genuinely good at and all of the positive feedback and admiration from those around me, fueled my passion."

DESCRIPTION: In the depths of my emotions, I envisioned an angel who, despite their purity, succumbed to the weight of countless sins, spiraling into an abyss of darkness and eternal suffering. This piece, titled "Plunge Into Ruin," reflects the profound struggle within humanity; the battle between light and darkness. It embodies the fragility of virtue and the consequences of choices, reminding us that even the purest among us can falter. Through this artwork, I sought to capture the universal journey of redemption and despair, illustrating how our greatest battles often lie within, echoing the complexities of the human experience.

TITLE: Eclipsed Valour |

Yet, amid this anguish, one figure stands resolutely above the rest, embodying resilience and the possibility of redemption. "I've always found myself getting lost in my art. Hours go by without me noticing and getting lost in the process can be an escape and a thrill. From as young as I can remember, art has always been my favourite thing to do and I have done it consistently.
My art is based around influences of many features and the styles I work in vary endlessly because every topic is interesting in it’s own way. Everything can be interpreted differently and everyone can take something from a piece. To me, art is about creativity and the freedom to make an idea come alive on the page.
Art is filled with memories, feelings, opinions & inspiration about the world around us which is why my life has constantly revolved around it and why I chose to indulge myself in creating & sharing my art for viewers to see and hopefully be inspired too!"

TITLE: Green Eyed Pitbull |
REF ID: GD01-01-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This digital art piece of a brown & white Pitbull dog was inspired by a photo I took of my friend's dog which reminded me of frosty, melancholy & intense feelings. By using that anthropomorphism, I was able to construct the background to match the overall atmosphere which is why it's filled with emptiness inside the house and has a mix of warm colours focused around the centre of the piece to contrast the colder background, giving it more of a cozy feel but is left up to interpretation of the viewer.

TITLE: Backstabber |
REF ID: GD01-02-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This free-hand digital art piece was inspired by traditional Japanese tattoo art and cultural symbolism. The mask resembles a Hannya mask, representing a jealous female demon which is often associated with emotions such as anger, jealousy and sorrow. The sword running vertically behind the mask and the pink peonies add further meaning. Swords in Japanese art often represent strength and honour, while peonies are symbols of bravery, prosperity and good fortune. The combination of these elements and the swirling smoke/wind patterns, creates an intricate image that conveys themes of strength, envy and powerful emotion.

TITLE: Siberian Deer |
REF ID: GD01-03-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This digital art piece of a 'Siberian Deer' was originally inspired by Princess Ukok (aka the Siberian Ice Maiden), a female mummy from 500 BC, historically known as the earliest sighting of a preserved tattoo. The most significant one on her shoulder appeared to look like a 'griffin like creature'. To recreate her style in my own way, I created a mythical creature that looks more like a deer with the same skeletal design and exaggerated features, such as the tribal shapes and Celtic influences, to maintain the symbolic appearance. I also added elements of various folklore traditions and created a more modern design, with flowing lines that give it a tattoo-like quality and represents a connection to nature, mystical forces and ancient spirits in various cultural contexts.

TITLE: Souls Of The Dead |
REF ID: GD01-04-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This digital art piece was inspired by two skull pottery pieces that me and my s/o painted together to resemble sugar skulls, which are an iconic symbol of the Mexican holiday 'Día de los Muertos' (Day of the Dead). These skulls are often crafted with intricate, colourful designs and are decorated with flowers, patterns, and vibrant colours to represent the beauty of life and the remembrance of the dead, meant to show that death is not something to fear but to celebrate. These two skulls together could also represent a form of yin and yang, as on the left side, the white skull has a detailed ornamentation and more traditional elements in sugar skull designs. Whereas, the black and white colour scheme on the right skull with subtle patterns suggests a more modern take on the traditional style, combining cultural heritage with
contemporary art techniques.

TITLE: Renaissance Stone Angel |
REF ID: GD01-05-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This graphite pencil drawing of an angel statue was inspired by Renaissance statues and influences of classical and gothic art. Angels in art often symbolize protection, guidance and spiritual transcendence, therefore, the statue is presented in a way that enhances a calm, melancholic presence, reminiscent of Renaissance art. The uncluttered, blurry and harsh background helps to make the angel look more enlightened but is tied into the 'heart of the soul' (the eyes) where it's also harshly 'erased’ and blurry which can add to the feeling of age and reverence, enhancing its mournful mood. Collectively, the art piece displays an importance of human emotion and the beauty of human form.

TITLE: Neon Florals |
REF ID: GD01-06-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This digital art piece of "blue and purple' cherry blossoms was inspired by a photo I took while on a walk in the woods. The main theme of this art piece is based around surrealism, as I re-invented the colours to be intense and contrasting to evoke a dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere. The vibrant blue, teal, and purple hues on the flowers also give them an ethereal and almost neon quality, standing out dramatically against the dark, monochromatic background. This contrast could represent themes of resilience, hope, or the idea that beauty can exist even in mysterious or somber environments, blending natural elements with a futuristic/psychedelic feel.

TITLE: Stars And Crosses |
REF ID: GD01-07-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This biro & marker pen art piece of a red cross & floating stars was inspired by a blend of gothic and celestial elements. The cross itself symbolizes spirituality, sacrifice or protection, as the centre of the art piece, it features intricate designs and sharp edges which are characteristic of gothic and medieval art styles. It evokes a sense of mystery, as though the image is a portal to something beyond the physical world, blending religious symbols with a cosmic, almost supernatural feel. Continually, the surrounding stars, with their bold outlines and shading, add the cosmic element, creating a sense of vastness and depth. The stars' arrangement around the cross signifies a protective or reverent aura, as if the stars themselves are guardians of the cross.

TITLE: Lunar Moon |
REF ID: GD01-08-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This digital art piece of my Tortoiseshell cat, named 'Moon' was inspired by a photo that I took of her yawning / 'roaring’. The monochromatic, high-contrast style gives the cat an eerie, almost ghostly look, which could be associated with traditional ideas of cats as mystical creatures or symbols of independence and intuition. The blurred background adds a sense of distortion, creating an abstract, surreal atmosphere around the focused, intense expression of the cat. This artistic style reflects an admiration for the wild / untamed nature of cats and combines both realism and abstraction, giving it a modern, edgy appeal that resonates with themes of freedom and mystique.

TITLE: Fading Memories |
REF ID: GD01-09-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This Oil Painting of an abstract skull was inspired by themes of loss, nostalgia and the influence of life and experiences. The dominant use of cool, muted and blended colours, such as greens and blues, combined with the shadowy, abstract skull shape, hints at the gradual dissolution of memories as they fade over time. Within this visualisation, the hues could symbolise different emotions or fragments of past experiences (calm, serenity, sadness, longing etc..) all merging and fading into one another as they lose distinctness.

TITLE: Knock Knock |
REF ID: GD01-10-A4101 |
|
DESCRIPTION: This biro & marker pen art piece is of a cartoon style woman being watched through the peephole, (fisheye lens) of the front door to an apartment. The artwork evokes the feeling of waiting for a response, there's layers of anticipation, tension and a sense of human connection / disconnection. Her expression, along with the stark black and white contrast, gives off a feeling of contemplation as if she is lost in thought or experiencing inner conflict. The fisheye perspective distorts her features and surroundings, this creates a phycological space where the observer and the person waiting are physically close yet separated by a barrier, both an apartment door and the emotional boundaries it represents. The collective inspiration behind this scenario is her hesitation before an important interaction, the fear of rejection and inner conflict she has after she knocks on the door.
